TROPIQUES Nord 5

A calm retreat inside one of Montreal’s most exclusive residential buildings!

Set within the iconic Tropiques Nord building in Montreal, this one-bedroom apartment renovation was designed as a quiet urban retreat — minimal, warm, highly functional, and deeply connected to its unique surroundings.

Tropiques Nord is unlike any other residential building in the city. Known for its spectacular indoor tropical gardens, semi-private elevators, and exceptional sense of privacy, the building offers a rare living experience where nature, architecture, and calm coexist in the heart of Montreal.

Our goal was to create an interior that felt aligned with this atmosphere: refined, serene, and effortless.

The apartment benefits from a beautiful connection to the building’s indoor garden, where lush greenery filters natural light into the living spaces year-round. We wanted the interior design to enhance this relationship rather than compete with it.

A soft palette of maple wood, warm whites, natural stone-inspired surfaces, and clean architectural lines creates a peaceful rhythm throughout the residence. Every design decision was guided by clarity, comfort, and long-term functionality.

The kitchen was redesigned with a focus on simplicity, efficiency, and timeless materials.

Custom wood cabinetry, integrated appliances, soft lighting, and clean-lined surfaces create a kitchen that feels discreet yet highly practical. The composition is intentionally restrained, allowing the warmth of the wood and the precision of the details to define the space.

Rather than designing a kitchen as a separate functional zone, we approached it as part of the overall living experience — visually calm, fully integrated, and beautifully connected to the rest of the apartment.

One of the most important elements of this renovation was the integration of custom millwork throughout the apartment.

In the living area, low built-in storage and floating wood shelves create a refined focal point while maintaining a sense of lightness. The millwork adds warmth, function, and visual continuity without overwhelming the space.

In the bedroom and circulation areas, custom storage was designed to maximize every inch while keeping the apartment clean and uncluttered. The pale wood finish creates a seamless connection between the flooring, cabinetry, and architectural details.

This project is a perfect example of how custom millwork can transform a compact residence into a highly functional and elegant home.

The bathroom was designed to feel serene and effortless, but every detail required careful planning. A custom double sink, wall-mounted faucets, warm wood vanity, integrated Corian surfaces, and soft stone-inspired porcelain create a cohesive and spa-like atmosphere. The vanity connects visually with the bathtub surround, forming one continuous architectural line.

This project reflects Crio’s approach to high-end residential and hospitality-inspired interiors: every element should feel beautiful, functional, and intentional.

From the custom storage to the kitchen, bathroom, lighting, and material palette, the entire renovation was designed to support a refined daily experience.
